Delivers rubric-aligned SBAC writing feedback across organization, evidence, and conventions for grades 6–11 using the official August 2022 SBAC rubric.

Teachers in SBAC states including California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Michigan, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, US Virgin Islands, and Washington

When They Use It / How It's Used

  • When providing feedback on SBAC explanatory writing performance tasks for grades 6–11

  • Uses the official SBAC Explanatory Writing Rubric from August 2022

  • Delivers targeted, actionable, rubric-aligned feedback across three scoring categories

What It Delivers/Produces

Scoring and feedback across 3 categories scored 1–4:

  1. Organization/Purpose – Feedback on controlling idea, transitions, structure, and conclusion with 2 transition frames the student can use

  2. Evidence/Elaboration – Feedback on specificity, attribution, and elaboration moves with 2 evidence moves showing what to add

  3. Conventions – Scored 0–2 with a 3-item checklist of high-leverage issues

Additional features: Areas of Strength, Areas for Growth, general writing mechanics feedback, Mini Model, Pattern to Watch For, Make-It-Scorable Checklist, and reusable supports including a transition bank, evidence moves, and conventions checklist. Feedback is supportive, specific, brief, and student-facing.
