Important Terms & Definitions

Generation: In the context of MagicSchool, a generation is a text response or resource created by AI after a user's input. For example, if a user is using the "Rubric Generator" tool, inputs their requirements for the rubric, then clicks generate — the rubric created by AI as the output would count as one generation.

Input: The information you give to the AI, such as questions, text, or uploaded documents. It's what the AI uses to understand what you want.

Output: What the AI gives back to you after processing your input. It could be an answer, a suggestion, or an image — anything the AI creates based on what you asked.

Thread: The ongoing conversation between you and the AI. It keeps track of your messages so the AI can remember what you discussed and respond in context.

Student Room: A dedicated space within MagicSchool where teachers deploy AI tools for student use. Teachers control which tools are available and can monitor student interactions.

MagicSchool Free: The free tier of MagicSchool available to all educators. Includes access to core tools with usage limits on AI generations.

MagicSchool Plus: A paid individual subscription that unlocks higher generation limits and additional features for educators who want expanded access beyond the free tier.

MagicSchool Enterprise: A school or district-wide paid plan that provides all staff with full access, SSO integration, admin controls, usage reporting, and student tools.
