Student Insights: Understanding Engagement and Progress in Real-Time

Real-time data and analysis of student engagement in your Student Rooms.

Available in: Plus and Enterprise

The Student Insights features give educators real-time data and detailed analysis of student engagement in Student Rooms. These include:

  • Real-time participation monitoring — Shows active, recent, or inactive student usage of tools, updated every few minutes.

  • Thread summaries — An overview of student interactions with tools, categorizing engagement as highly engaged, moderately engaged, minimally engaged, or distracted.

  • On-demand student-level summaries — Generate a summary of a student's activity, highlighting strengths, areas for improvement, and suggestions for teacher engagement.

  • Room activity dashboard — Aggregate data on room activity, including student participation, tool usage, and engagement levels, updated hourly.

📊 How to Access Insights for a Room

  1. Click MagicStudent from the left-hand menu

  2. Select Rooms from the dropdown

  3. Under the room name, click "Insights"

👤 How to View Student Insights

  1. Click MagicStudent

  2. From the dropdown, select Rooms

  3. Click on a student's name

  4. View the Student Summary at the top of the page

📋 How to View a Student's Output History

  1. Click MagicStudent

  2. From the dropdown, select Rooms

  3. Select the room you want to view

  4. Click on the student's name

  5. Click the arrow ( > ) next to the room name

    • This expands the view to show the student's complete output history.
