How to Schedule Start/End Times for Student Rooms

Automate when students can access AI tools by setting start and end times for your Student Rooms.

Room scheduling gives Plus and Enterprise educators automated control over when students can access AI tools in MagicSchool. Set specific start and end times for student rooms to align AI access with your class schedule. Rooms automatically unlock and lock at designated times, eliminating manual management while maintaining appropriate boundaries around AI usage.

⚙️ How It Works

  1. When creating a new student room, toggle on Schedule.

  2. Set a start date/time and (optional) end date/time.

  3. Once saved:

    1. Rooms will auto-unlock at the start time and auto-lock at the end time.

    2. You can still manually lock/unlock during the active window.

    3. You can edit the schedule anytime from the room settings.

  • Prevents unsupervised AI use outside class

  • Reduces classroom distractions

  • Cuts down manual toggling and risk of forgetting

Can I use recurring schedules?

Not yet — recurring scheduling is on our roadmap.

Can I override the schedule?

Yes, you can manually lock or unlock a room at any time during the active window.
